Hild Sofie Tafjord (born 1974 in Langevåg, Norway) is a Norwegian musician and composer, plays french horn and electronics.
She studied at the Toneheim folkehøgskole under the guidance of Maja Ratkje among others and at the Norwegian Academy of Music.
She plays in the quartet SPUNK from 1995 with Maja Ratkje, Lene Grenager and Kristin Andersen, and with Maja Ratkje in the duo Fe-mail (from 2000) and the trio Agrare with Maja Ratkje and the dancer Lotta Melin. In Slinger she plays with Lene Grenager and Lisa Dillan, and in the Kvartett Lemur - with Lene Grenager, Michael Francis Duch and Bjørnar Habbestad and in Phantom Orchard Orchestra - with Zeena Parkins and Ikue Mori among others. She often plays in duo with the saxophonist Håkon Kornstad and has collaborated with Fred Frith, Matmos, Kjetil Manheim, Øyvind Berg, Wolf Eyes, Campbell Kneale, Yoshihide Otomo, Zu, Evan Parker etc. Moreover, she has played within Crimetime Orchestra, No Spaghetti Edition and Norwegian Noise Orchestra. She reseased also two solo albums: KAMA (2007) and Breathing (2014).
